Wishaw is a town in North Lanarkshire, Scotland. It is located about 8 miles east of Glasgow and has a population of around 18,000. The town contains a variety of businesses and services, including a primary school, post office, and grocery store. Breakers Yard is a scrap metal recycling business that was established in Wishaw in 2006 by brothers Gary and John Barr. The business specializes in the recycling of vehicle parts and operates from an industrial yard next to the Airdrie railway station.
The company has grown rapidly since its inception and now operates one of the largest scrap metal recycling yards in Scotland. It currently processes more than 1000 tonnes of material each year, which it sells to various customers, including steel mills and fabricators across Europe. In addition to operating their own scrap metal recycling business, Gary and John Barr are also proprietors of Scottish Salvage Group (SSG), which offers a wide range of scrap metal salvage services to businesses and consumers in central Scotland. SSG employs around 45 people who work at its three branches – Airdrie, Coatbridge, and Motherwell – providing them with the necessary skills and knowledge to recycle all types of metal materials.
The Barr brothers have dedicated their lives to establishing Breakers Yard as one of the leading scrap metal recyclers in Scotland and they are determined to continue providing quality service to their customers for years to come.
