How your quote is worked out
We price the actual car, not a generic band. The registration tells us the exact model, year, weight and engine; from there the figure moves on the live scrap-metal market, whether the car carries parts worth recovering, and whether the catalytic converter and battery are still on it. A complete car always beats a stripped one, and a repairable write-off or a tired EV is usually worth a fair bit more than its weight in steel — say so when you quote and we'll value it properly. Curious what moves the number? See our current price bands.
The quote is firm — and the price doesn't change at the kerb
Once we've confirmed your figure, that's what you're paid by bank transfer when the car is loaded. The only time a price is revisited is if the vehicle turns out materially different from how it was described — and even then we re-quote openly before anything moves. No inspection theatre, no last-minute deductions, and never cash, because paying cash for scrap is illegal.
Before you ask
Am I committed once I get a quote?
Not at all. The quote is free and there's no obligation — take it, compare it, sleep on it. If the metal market moves we may need to re-confirm the figure, but you'll never be pressured into accepting.
What if my car isn't exactly as I described?
If something material is different — parts missing, more damage than mentioned — we re-quote openly before the car moves. What we never do is shave money off at the kerb without explaining why.
