Scrap an electric or hybrid car in Scotland
An end-of-life EV or hybrid is valued differently to a petrol or diesel — most of the worth is in the battery and motor, which is why a tired Leaf, Zoe or hybrid can be worth far more than its weight in steel. We're set up to handle the high-voltage side safely.

The battery is the value
Even a degraded traction battery has real worth — for second-life storage or for the materials inside it. We assess the pack's health and the motor, then quote against the actual car rather than a generic scrap figure. Bring the reg and a couple of photos and we'll give you a straight number.
High-voltage, handled properly
EVs and hybrids must be de-energised and dismantled by trained staff using the right equipment — it isn't a job for a general scrapper. As a licensed facility we isolate the high-voltage system safely, recover the battery and motor, and recycle the rest to the SEPA standard.
When does scrapping an EV make sense?
Electric cars reach end-of-life differently. Rust and blown engines barely feature; instead it's accident damage that makes a repair uneconomical, a degraded pack on an early model with a small range to begin with, or a battery fault that costs more to fix than the car is worth. Early Leafs and Zoes are now arriving at exactly that point, and an insurance write-off EV often carries more salvage value than its owner expects.
Don't assume a dead battery means a worthless car. Modules within the pack are recoverable, second-life storage buyers want them, and the motor and electronics hold value of their own — all of which we price in. Tell us the model, year and what the range was doing, and we'll give you a proper figure rather than a petrol-car guess.
We scrap
- Full electric cars — Leaf, Zoe, e-Golf, i3 and more
- Plug-in and self-charging hybrids
- Cars with degraded or faulty traction batteries
- Fire- or water-damaged EVs (assessed case by case)
- Battery and motor recovered, shell recycled safely
Common questions
Is a scrap EV worth more than a petrol car?
Often, yes — the traction battery and motor hold value even when the car is end-of-life, so EVs and hybrids frequently beat an equivalent petrol or diesel at scrap.
Can you handle the battery safely?
Yes. We're a licensed facility with trained staff and the right equipment to isolate and remove high-voltage batteries — it's not safe or legal for a general scrapper to do this.
Do you take hybrids too?
We do — plug-in and self-charging hybrids are valued on the same basis, factoring in the battery, motor and the usual scrap value.
